all over the place

nature really does heal you

from the journals:

My birthday was last week and I went to Vegas to celebrate it. I went to Red Rock Canyon (I aim to go to every US national park :D), a 30-minute drive away from the Strip.

From the drive on the way there to getting there, I was in constant awe~

I was born on an island and have been living in FL for a decade now, so I've seen beaches all my life— that was my dose of nature. But this??? I've never seen anything like it before.

Reflecting on this visit: I've been in a mental rut recently and going to this place kind of healed me??? Seeing something this magnificent for the first time really altered my brain chemistry lol. All jokes aside, there HAS to be a "higher power" that did this. Because there's no way that these mountains were put there with no thought or purpose to it.

It reminded me that my life is a blessing. Having another birthday is a blessing. Life is beautiful and worth living. That really sunk in after being there.

If I wasn't alive and well, I wouldn't have been there experiencing it all. The mountains, sunset, flora, animals, everything. This applies to my everyday life too. I won’t be listening to my favorite songs, running errands with my family, or eating delicious food if I wasn’t here. Being grateful for the simple fact that I’m alive and able to experience life here on earth (whether it’d be doing something mundane or exciting like taking trips to Vegas) is enough of a reason to get up everyday. This trip allowed me to pause and remind myself of this because I forget it sometimes.

[A gorgeous sunset appeared as the day wound down. My sister took a photo of it before we left]

Nature truly is the best medicine and can heal you. Note to self: go on more hikes.

What a way to celebrate another year older. <3
